Kinusaiga is the traditional Japanese art of creating fabric pictures, often described as "painting with fabric." Originating in 1980s Japan as a way to upcycle old kimonos, this unique craft allows you to create intricate, mosaic-like images without any sewing, gluing, or needles.

Here is a summary of what you will experience in this class:

What You Will Learn

  • The Core Technique: How to transfer a design onto a foam board base, score the lines, and tuck fabric edges into the grooves to create a seamless picture.

  • Material Selection: How to choose, coordinate, and fussy-cut fabric pieces to add texture, depth, and shading to your artwork.

  • Finishing Touches: Methods for wrapping the edges of your board for a professional, display-ready finish.

Class Highlights

  • No Experience Needed: Perfect for both beginners and experienced crafters; absolutely no sewing skills are required.

  • All Materials Provided: But feel free to bring your own fabric scraps!

  • Take Home Masterpiece: By the end of the session, you will have a completed, textured fabric artwork ready to hang or gift.

Discover the meditative joy of this beautiful, tactile art form and turn scraps of fabric into a stunning piece of art!
